Pike River book

A book on the Pike River Mine disaster by a top New Zealand journalist will be launched in Blaketown on November 15. Rebecca Macfie, the South Island correspondent for The Listener, has covered the Pike River story ever since the November 19, 2010, tragedy that killed 29 men. Tragedy at Pike River Mine: How and Why 29 Men Died is described by publisher Awa Press as a “superbly researched and page-turning account of a disaster that should never have happened, of the dramatic political and legal fallout, and the effect on the small West Coast community”. It will be launched at the Blaketown Rugby Clubrooms.
